Diana Letaru Named SIAC Women’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week

Jacksonville, Fla. — Edward Waters University junior forward Diana Letaru has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week, for the week of December 2, following a breakout performance that powered the Lady Tigers to a key road victory.

Letaru, a junior transfer originally from Uganda, delivered her strongest outing of the season in EWU's 64–61 win over Clark Atlanta on Saturday. She was dominant from start to finish, scoring a career-high 18 points while adding six rebounds and one steal. Letaru shot an efficient 9-for-14 from the field in 33 minutes of action, providing the Lady Tigers with a reliable interior presence and timely scoring.

Her ability to finish around the basket, create second-chance opportunities, and control the paint was instrumental in helping the Lady Tigers secure the narrow victory. Letaru's standout performance also highlights the growing impact she has made since joining Edward Waters, solidifying her role as a key contributor in the Tigers' rotation.

Edward Waters University congratulates Diana Letaru on earning SIAC Newcomer of the Week honors and looks forward to her continued success throughout conference play.
