From Daytona to Iceland: Lee’Sha Henry’s Rise into the Pro Ranks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Former Edward Waters University standout Lee'Sha Henry is turning heads early in her professional career, having signed with Íþróttafélagið Vestri in Iceland. Her journey to the pro level is a testament to perseverance, hard work, and talent honed over years of competition.

Henry's signing was announced in September 2025 after she waited over a year post-graduation while continuing to train and stay ready for opportunities.

Henry's new club, Vestri, operates in the Icelandic basketball system, competing in Iceland's women's basketball leagues as part of the multi-sport club based in the Westfjords.

According to Eurobasket, Henry is listed as a 5'9" swing player currently with Vestri. Her move to Iceland marks her first professional contract, and signals that her game is reaching new horizons on the international stage.

Her presence adds talent and experience to Vestri's roster, and she joins a club with a history in multiple sports including basketball.

Henry is a Daytona Beach, Florida native and attended Mainland High School. Her development at the high school level earned her the chance to play collegiate basketball at Edward Waters.

At EWU, Henry became a key contributor to the Tigers' women's basketball program.

She played multiple positions (guard / forward), showcasing versatility and leadership on the floor. During her time at EWU, she also earned the title of 2021 GCAC Champion and was active as a student-athlete beyond the court, involved in student leadership and campus life.

As a graduate student, she continued her role on the Tigers' roster, bringing experience and poise to the team.

Her time at Edward Waters prepared her not only in basketball skills but also in character, resilience, and readiness for opportunities at the next level.

Henry's professional move is inspiring for Edward Waters and Tiger Nation — proving that the path from an HBCU program to the professional ranks is real and achievable.

She must now adjust to a new culture, travel, style of play, and competition overseas. Her success will depend on her ability to adapt, continue improving, and bring her college-honed skills to a more global stage.

For EWU, Henry becomes a living example for future players: excellence in college can translate to pro chances, even internationally. Her journey can be promoted to recruits, marketing, and the broader athletics vision for the program.

Tiger fans and alumni should keep close tabs on her performance in Iceland. Her status, growth, and impact overseas will be a point of pride for the entire Edward Waters family.
