Edward Waters Basketball Keeps Home Win Streak Alive with 72-67 OT Victory over Tuskegee

Jacksonville, FL., -- The Edward Waters' men's basketball team ended 2024 with an overtime victory and opened 2025 with another overtime thrilling win.

EWU captured a 72-67 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) overtime home victory over Tuskegee, Monday night inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex. With the win, the Tigers moved into third place in the SIAC East Division standings with a 5-2 showing in conference action and a 9-5 mark on the season overall so far.

Edward Waters controlled the game from the opening tip of the game as they outscored the Golden Tigers 22 to 20 in the paint and 48 to 2 on bench points.

The bulk of the EWU's bench points were scored by guard Ja'Kobe Williams. The Jacksonville native scored a game-high 23 points with eight rebounds on a team-high 39 minutes of action. En route to scoring his 23 points, Williams, a senior guard, surpassed the 1,000-career points milestone.

Senior guard Kristian Ford compiled 12 points, knocking down two huge three pointers and grabbing three rebounds off the bench. Junior shooting guard Trevino Glover tallied eight points and four rebounds in a reserve role.
Prince Davies III led the Tiger starters with 17 points and three rebounds. Davies connected on ten of eleven shots from the charity stripe.

EWU Head Men's Basketball Coach Cabral Huff was proud of his team's resiliency and toughness against Tuskegee. "Another gutsy win tonight at home," explained Huff. "These guys are just finding a way to win no matter the adversity or circumstances. That's impressive and the main reason were still undefeated at home."

Edward Waters will now begin taking on their SIAC East foes, with a Georgia road trek to face Fort Valley State on Saturday, January 11th at 3:00 p.m. inside the HPE Arena and a match against Albany State on Monday, January 13th at 7:30pm inside the HPER Complex.
