Hileah, FL., -- The Edward Waters women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie in their midweek road contest against the Florida National University Conquistadors at Henry Milander Park-Ted Hendricks Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the first tie of 2024 for the Lady Tigers as they moved to 2-4-1 on the season.
EWU got the scoring started early as senior
Dahien Cabrera notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the fifth minute of action. She was assisted on the point by freshman
Dadie Cherenfant, who is now tied for first in the NCAA Division II in assists with five.
The FNU Conquistadors answered back in the 22nd minute of tie the game at 1-1.
The Lady Tigers would take the lead again in the 28th minute as freshman
Rose-Bertude Rosinvil tallied her fourth goal of the season.
The lead would be short lived as FNU tied the match at 2-2 in the 34th minute.
Both teams scored all four combined goals in the opening half of play as both squads tightened up the defense after the intermission.
Despite the score the Tigers were extremely aggressive of offense compiling a season best 28 shots in the contest, including 17 shot attempts in the second half. Rosinvil led Edward Waters with nine shots, Cabrera chipped in six shots and Cherenfant added four shots.
Brooklyn Lough, Alyh Velazquez Diaz and
Libby Brown all attempted two shots each.
Sheila Pascual played 58 minutes in the box and recorded two saves.
Olivia Galloway saw 32 minutes of action and finished with three saves.
The Lady Tigers will return to action Sunday, September 29 as they travel to Columbia, South Carolina to face Allen University. The match will begin at 11:00 am at the SE Freight Lines Soccer Complex.
