Jacksonville, FL — The Edward Waters women's soccer team narrowly dropped their home opener, 2-1 to the Barry University Buccaneers Monday evening at Glover Field and Stadium.
This was the Lady Tigers second match against the in as many weeks as EWU loss both contests by a combined three goals.
In Miami it was Edward Waters that got off to a hot start, scoring the opening goal of the game. This afternoon the first half belonged to the visiting Buccaneers. Barry U scored both of their goals in the first half. Senior Alia Jaidi scored both goals for the Bucs.
Despite being down 2-0 at the half, the Lady Tigers kept their poise and did not allow another goal for the entire match. Late in the second half senior Dahien Cabrera took a pass through the traffic from freshman Dadie Cherenfant to put Edward Waters in the scoring column.
For Cabrera, it was her second goal of the season and for Cherenfant it was her team-leading third assist. Goalkeeper Olivia Galloway played all 90 minutes in the box and tallied seven saves.
The Lady Tigers will be back on the road as they travel to Miami for a Wednesday afternoon matchup against Florida Memorial before heading north to face No. 15 ranked Embry-Riddle University on Saturday night.
