Atlanta, Georgia-With the 2024 regular season coming down the home stretch and a tight SIAC East Division race between Edward Waters, Albany State, and Fort Valley State, the Lady Tigers made their way to Atlanta for a three-game series with Clark Atlanta. The Purple & Orange were able to rise to the occasion, sweeping all three contests, run their winning streak to eight, and maintain striking distance with division leader FVSU.
GAME ONE: Edward Waters 12, Clark Atlanta 0 (5 Inn.):
Gracie Mejia and
Caitlynne Lamug's RBI groundouts started the scoring for EWU in the top of the second inning, giving the visitors the early 2-0 lead.
Kylah Gardner added another run in the top of the third with an RBI single to stretch the lead to 3-0, then in the top of the fourth, Edward Waters completely put the contest out of reach with nine runs coming home.
Caitlynne Lamug scored on a wild pitch,
Laura Scott and
Kloe Sisson each had RBI singles, Sisson and
Katie Goodin scored on wild pitches,
Jade Mention earned an RBI on a groundout, and
Caitlynne Lamug hit a two-RBI double, later coming home on a wild pitch to give EWU a 12-0 lead.
The Lady Tigers were able to close out the Panthers in the bottom of the fifth, bringing an early close to the contest via the run-rule.

Jodasea Peterson continued to flex her dominance in the circle with a complete game, two hit shutout, while striking out five.
GAME TWO: Edward Waters 7, Clark Atlanta 4:
Game Two of Saturday's doubleheader was a bit more competitive as CAU posted 10 hits in the contest, but Edward Waters took advantage of four Panther errors to take victory.
Katie Goodin opened things up in the top of the first, scoring an unearned run to give the Purple & Orange a 1-0 lead. Clark Atlanta was able to tie things up at 1-1 in the bottom of the first with an RBI single of their own. The Lady Tigers took the lead for good in the top of the third inning, pushing across four runs.
Laura Scott had an RBI single,
Kloe Sisson and
Brooke Rice each had RBI doubles, and
Brooke Rice scored on a CAU error to give EWU a 5-1 lead. A CAU solo homer in the bottom of the third cut the EWU lead down to three at 5-2.
The EWU lead was stretched back out to four in the top half of the fifth on
Kylah Gardner's RBI double, but the Panthers got that run back in the bottom of the fifth with an RBi sacrifice fly.
Katie Goodin came home once again, scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth to make it a 7-3 ballgame. A CAU RBI double in the bottom of the seventh cut the lead back down to three at 7-4, but the Panthers could come no closer as EWU was able to sweep the Saturday doubleheader.

Shai-Ann Currie earned win #8 of her season in the circle for EWU.
GAME THREE: Edward Waters 8, Clark Atlanta 4:
Katie Goodin emphatically got the scoring started in the top of the first inning of Sunday's series finale with a solo homer. Later,
Kylah Gardner had an RBI single to center field to double the EWU lead at 2-0 lead. In the top of the second,
Laura Scott had an RBI groundout to make it a 3-0 Lady Tiger lead.
Clark Atlanta hit the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double to center field to cut the Edward Waters lead down to two at 3-1. Edward Waters exploded with five runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Mhasiah Patterson's RBI sacrifice fly,
Laura Scott and
Katie Goodin's steal of home, a
Brooke Rice RBI double, and
Kylah Gardner's RBI single stretched the EWU lead to 8-1. The Panthers added three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth, but EWU was able to hold them off for the remainder of the contest to earn a three-game sweep.
Kylah Gardner led EWU at the dish, going 3-for-4 with two RBI's.
Jodasea Peterson was dominant once again, going all seven innings, allowing just four earned runs, and seven strikeouts. In the process, for the second consecutive season, Peterson earned over 100 strikeouts in a season.
The Purple & Orange turn their attention to another critical road three-game series against Savannah State on Friday and Saturday in Savannah.
