Jacksonville, FL., -- After a tough road loss at Albany State last week, the Edward Waters football team will try to find the win column as they make their final road road trip of the season for a clash with Lane College.  Kickoff for this Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) contest is scheduled for 3:00 pm EST. In Jackson, TN at Lane Field.

SERIES HISTORY:
 This will be the 11th all-time meeting between Edward Waters and Lane. The Dragons maintain a 6-4 advantage in the series after the Tigers huge Homecoming victory in 2023.

PREVIEWING EDWARD WATERS
The Edward Waters Tigers  are 1-7 so far on the season after a tough road loss at Albany State last Saturday, October 26th. Offensively the Tigers are led by junior quarterback Juwan Dent, who has thrown for  748 total yards this season with four passing touchdowns. Dent also has three rushing touchdowns on the season. The ground game has been a committee led approach as Kentrelle Williams (295), Brady Tillman (248), Gregory Mango (217),  and Johntarrious Thomas (129) have all rushed for over 100 yards this season. Preseason All-American Johnny Jones leads the Tigers in both catches with 27 and receiving yards at 347. Jones has also added 107 total punt return yards and 214 total kick return yards. Senior Deven Thompson has tallied 17 catches for 277 yards with two touchdowns, and he leads the receiving corps with 16.29 yards per catch.The tight end combo of Fatoma Paulk and Raveon Moore have both added a couple touchdown receptions so far on the year.  

Edward Waters is currently ranked eighth in the conference in total defense and third in the SIAC in passing defense. EWU is also ranked fourth in the conference in total interceptions led by two interceptions apiece from sophomore Stephan French and De'Angelo Sapp. French is also second on the team in tackles with 46, 16th best in the league. Senior Widmyer Garçon ranks 10th in the SIAC with a team-leading 51 total tackles. Jonathan Nesbit has compiled 34 total tackles and Datrell Rolle has added 30 tackles on the season.

PREVIEWING LANE COLLEGE
The Lane College Dragons come into this SIAC matchup with a 3-5 overall record and an 3-4 mark in conference play after a  narrow 28-27 Homecoming spoiling victory over Savannah State. Offensively, the Dragons are led by quarterbacks NyJai Johnson who has thrown for 774 yards and 4 touchdowns and Jerick Gaston who has tossed for 692 yards and six touchdowns. Running backs Ike Brown (532 yards, 5 TD) and Kylan Duhe (504 yards, 7 TD) have been splitting the rushing duties for Lane. Anthony Evelyn leads the Dragons pass catchers with has 591 receiving yards to go along with five touchdowns. Carl Pitts has added 312 yards and recorded two touchdowns.

Defensively, Devon Irving  leads Lane with 64 tackles, third best in the SIAC. Tyshun Gaiter has added 52 tackles for the Dragons. Robert Brown leads the team with 5.5 sacks and ten tackles for loss.

NEXT GAME:
The Edward Waters Tigers conclude their 2024 season with a huge Homecoming, Senior Day and AME Classic game against Allen University next Saturday, November 9 inside the Nathaniel Glover Stadium. Kickoff  is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
