Tylon Williams Earns SIAC Newcomer of the Week Honors Following Explosive Homecoming Performance

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Edward Waters University junior wide receiver Tylon Williams has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Newcomer of the Week following an electrifying performance in the Tigers' dominant 62-14 Homecoming victory over Clark Atlanta University on Saturday afternoon inside Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.

Williams delivered one of the most impressive performances of his collegiate career, leading the Tigers' explosive aerial attack with a game-high 171 receiving yards on six receptions, including a spectacular 78-yard touchdown reception that brought the Homecoming crowd to its feet.

The junior playmaker averaged an outstanding 28.5 yards per reception, showcasing his big-play ability and providing another dangerous offensive weapon for an Edward Waters attack that overwhelmed the Panthers throughout the afternoon.

Williams' signature moment came during the third quarter when senior quarterback Tavion Faulk connected with him on a breathtaking 78-yard touchdown strike, extending the Tigers' commanding advantage to 55-14.

The explosive scoring play took just 13 seconds off the clock and served as another example of Williams' ability to stretch the field and turn a single reception into a game-changing moment.

His performance helped fuel an Edward Waters offense that accumulated 600 yards of total offense, including 376 passing yards and 224 rushing yards, as the Tigers cruised to their sixth victory of the season.

Williams' emergence as one of the conference's most dangerous receiving threats has been a major asset for the Purple and Orange throughout the 2026 campaign.

Through eight games, Williams currently ranks fourth in the SIAC with 559 receiving yards and has hauled in five touchdown receptions, establishing himself among the league's top offensive playmakers.

His combination of speed, athleticism, and ability to create explosive plays has made him a valuable target in Edward Waters' high-powered passing attack.

The junior's latest performance also complemented another outstanding afternoon from Faulk, who completed 19-of-22 passes for 367 yards and five touchdowns while adding two rushing scores.

Together, Faulk and Williams helped lead an offensive showcase that saw Edward Waters record 31 first downs and average 10.2 yards per play against Clark Atlanta.

The victory improved Edward Waters to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in SIAC play, keeping the Tigers firmly in the conference championship race as the regular season enters its final stretch.

Williams' selection as SIAC Newcomer of the Week adds another individual accolade to an impressive week for Edward Waters Football, as Faulk also earned his fourth SIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor following his seven-touchdown Homecoming performance.

With Williams continuing to emerge as a premier receiving threat and Faulk directing one of the conference's most explosive offenses, the Tigers will look to maintain their momentum heading into another pivotal conference matchup.

Williams and the Tigers will return to action on Saturday, October 31, traveling to Wilberforce, Ohio, for a highly anticipated Halloween showdown against Central State University.

Edward Waters will look to build upon its dominant Homecoming performance and secure another crucial conference victory as the Tigers continue their pursuit of SIAC championship contention.
