Women's Basketball Falters At LeMoyne-Owen

Box Score Memphis, Tennessee-The Lady Tigers struggles continued to haunt them on Saturday afternoon in their 70-56 SIAC road loss to LeMoyne-Owen at Bruce Hall Gymnasium. The loss extended EWU's losing streak to four games and unfortunately solidified a season sweep at the hands of the Lady Magicians for the first time since re-joining the SIAC.

Edward Waters (4-9, 2-5 SIAC) controlled the pace of play in the first quarter, rolling out to a 10-3 lead at the midway point of the quarter, ultimately leading 15-11 at quarters end. From there, LeMoyne-Owen (7-5, 4-3 SIAC) dominated the remainder of the contest. The Lady Magicians opened the second quarter on a 15-0 which ultimately would result in a quarter that saw them outscore EWU 24-8 and lead 35-23.

The Purple & Orange faced a double digit deficit for the remainder of the contest, being outscored 35-35 in the second half, coming away with a 14 point road defeat.

Imani Harris led the Lady Tigers with 10 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Jourdan Avery had her best contest of the season since returning to the lineup with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals.

The Lady Tigers will continue their road swing to Albany, Georgia on Saturday, January 13th against Albany State in the SIAC East Division opener.
