Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters is now out to the best start in program history with a 4-3 home victory over rival Allen University on Tuesday afternoon at Glover Community Field & Stadium.

For the Lady Tigers (2-0-0), the formula to success in the match was their high number of shots, finishing with 20 total, 16 of them being on goal. The scoring got started in the 30th minute, when Angelina Joia found the back. of the net to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead. The Purple & Orange doubled up their advantage with just over six minutes remaining in the half, thanks to Dahien Cabrera's goal on a penalty kick, giving EWU a 2-0 halftime lead.

Allen (0-2-0) came out of the locker room firing, quickly scoring two goals in the 47th and 49th minutes respectively, knotting the contest up at 2-2. Sophomore Sophia Paffrath connected on her first goal of the season in the 70th minute to break the deadlock and allow the Lady Tigers to retake the lead at 3-2. Dahien Cabrera once again gave EWU a two-goal advantage with her second goal of the contest in 89th minute to give the Lady Tigers a 4-2 lead. The Yellow Jackets would not go away as 12 seconds later, they scored on a breakaway to pull within one, but Edward Waters was able to hold on to pick up a hard fought one goal victory.

Edward Waters will continue their homestand on Thursday afternoon at 1:00pm when they host another rival in the Lady Lions of Florida Memorial.
