Lady Tigers Remain Undefeated With Six Goal Romp Of Trinity Baptist

Jacksonville, Florida-The dominance that the Edward Waters women's soccer squad has displayed throughout the season continued in a major way on Thursday evening. The Lady Tigers recorded their second consecutive clean sheet with a convincing 6-0 home victory over in-city rival Trinity Baptist at Glover Community Field and Stadium, keeping their record unblemished on the campaign.

Edward Waters (5-0-1) met little resistance from the Trinity Baptist side (3-3-1) recording 27 shots on the night with 14 being on goal. The visitors from the Westside only mustered eight shots in the game with just one being on goal that starting keeper Sheila Pascual easily turned aside. The Lady Tigers also had 14 corner kick opportunities in the contest to just two for Trinity Baptist.

The goal scoring began in the 19th minute of the first half when Jaeda Wilson found the back of the net to give EWU a 1-0 lead. Just before halftime, Libby Brown doubled the EWU advantage in the 41st minute, scoring her first goal of 2023. 

The second half was also dominated by the home team as Edward Waters added four more goals to their tally. Redshirt freshman Miniya Browning scored her third goal of the year just three minutes into the second half in the 48th minute to give the Purple & Orange 3-0 advantage. Then in 82nd minute, leading goal scorer Dahien Cabrera got on the score sheet for the first time in the match to put EWU up 4-0. Three more minutes later in the 85th minute, Cabrera put her second goal of the night past the TBC goalkeeper, giving EWU a 5-0 lead. The damage was finally done in the 87th minute on Sophia Paffrath's third goal of the year, allowing Edward Waters to roll ot a six-goal home victory and remaining undefeated on the season.

Libby Brown led Edward Waters in shots on the night with five, followed by Claudia Mate with four for the Lady Tigers. Sheila Pascual also remained perfect on the season with the victory, just facing eight shots and one save. With her two goals scored in the contest, Dahien Cabrera now leads all of NCAA Division II Women's Soccer in goals scored with 10 on the season in just six games played. 

The season opening, seven game homestand will come to an end on Monday, September 25th against Florida National at 4:00pm at Glover Community Field & Stadium.
