Emari Bell was a part of a historic moment last Saturday evening as she joined several of the best HBCU basketball players in the country in the inagural HBCU All-Star Dream Classic. The contest was contested on one of most famous outdoor basketball courts in the world at the renowned Holcolmbe Rucker Park.
The Classic had contests for both men and women games and featured recent HBCU players who are now eligible for professional league opportunities. Scouts and coaches from professional teams were also on hand for the event.
The HBCU All-Star Dream Classic brought 40 of the best basketball players to Harlem, representing the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA), Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) independent conferences.
Bell completed her collegiate career at Edward Waters last season, suiting up in 20 contests after coming back from offseason knee surgery. Bell shot 38% from the floor while collecting 3.4 rebounds. per contest. Accolades during her career included being named to the 2020-21 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Second Team and All-Defensive team honors as well. Bell was also a key member of the Lady Tigers' first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship in 2021.
