Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters entered the three-game home weekend series against Savannah State with two goals in mind. To clinch the SIAC East Division championship and send their three seniors out with a bang as they were playing their final home contest of their collegiate careers. The Lady Tigers were able to accomplish both tasks as they swept all three games of their series to earn the East Division crown, extending their winning streak to 11 games, and on Saturday, the squad recognized co-captains
Emily Smith and
Tiara Peters along with
Nyiha Williams prior to the contest.
(FRIDAY) GAME ONE: Edward Waters 6, Savannah State 0:
The series opening contest saw the Lady Tigers be carried by another phenomenal pitching performance by the reigning SIAC Pitcher of the Week,
Jodasea Peterson. The Jacksonvile native turned in a complete game, one hit shutout with one walk and seven strikeouts.
At the dish,
Kylah Gardner finished going 2-for-2, driving in one run, and scoring another to lead the way for EWU.
Caitlynne Lamug recorded a 2-for-3 game with three RBI's and a run scored.
(FRIDAY) GAME TWO: Edward Waters 9, Savannah State 5:
Edward Waters built what appeared to be a comfortable 8-1 lead through the first four innings of the contest, but Savannah Stat3e had other plans in mind as they scored three runs in the top half of the fifth to chop the lead in half to 8-4. EWU did add another run in the bottom of the fifth to push the advantage to five. The visitors were able to score a run in the top half of the seventh, but the Lady Tigers were able to shut down the threat to clinch the series.

Brooke Rice, and
Tiara Peters each went 2-for-3 for EWU, while
Kylah Gardner finished 2-for-4.
Milani Sablan picked up the win in the circle for Edward Waters, going 6.0 innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts.
(SATURDAY) GAME THREE: Edward Waters 9, Savannah State 1/5 Innings:
As was the case. in game two, Edward Waters built up a comfortable lead in the first two innings, scoring eight runs. Savannah State was able to crack the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning, but Edward Waters was able to bring an early close to the contest with a run in the bottom of the fifth to earn a run rule victory.
Alyssa Charter Smith continued her impressive freshman campaign with a complete game victory. The West Wallsend, New South Wales, Austrailia native went 5.0 innings, allowed three hits, and two walks in the matchup, while striking out seven. Offensively,
Tiara Peters and
Katie Goodin each went 2-for-2, while
Jazmine Lamug,
Caitlynne Lamug, and
Jamiah Holmes each went 2-fo-3.
Edward Waters will head back up to Columbia, S. C. to close the regular season with a matchup aginast Benedict on Thursday afternoon.
