Jacksonville, Florida-The Edward Waters baseball squad continues to make more history as for the first time in the long and storied history of the program, the Tigers are receiving votes in the initial National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II South Region Poll released Wednesday.
Edward Waters received two votes in the first edition of the poll, and join fellow SIAC member schools Albany State (6 votes), Savannah State (4 votes) and Morehouse (1 point) in the initial regional poll.
The Purple & Orange will return to the home diamond for a very important SIAC series against Kentucky State. The series features a rematch of last season's Black College World Series Championship Game in which the Tigers defeated the Thorobreds 3-2 to capture the 2022 HBCU Baseball National Championship. The two teams will matchup in a doubleheader starting on Friday at 12pm, followed by the series finale in a single-game, nine inning affair on Saturday at 12pm at Henry L. Aaron Field at James P. Small Memorial Baseball Park.
