Fort Valley, Georgia-Edward Waters had a flair for the dramatic in Saturday afternooon's SIAC road women's basketball contest against Fort Valley State. Senior center Emari Bell's offensive rebound and putback with no time remaining, gave the Lady Tigers a 55-43 lead over the Lady Wildcats, in the process snapping a four game losing skid.

Edward Waters (10-14, 6-12 SIAC) darted out to a 12-8 lead through one quarter of play, but homestanding Fort Valley State (5-16, 5-15 SIAC) turned the tide in the second quarter, outscoring the Purple & Orange 17-6 to take a seven point lead at halftime at 25-18.

In the third, FVSU built their lead to as many as 11 points, but a late Edward Waters flurry cut the Lady Wildcat lead to seven points at 38-31 at the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter would belong to Edward Waters as after FVSU building their lead back up to double digits, the Lady Tigers went on an 11-0 run over the final 2:14 remaining in the quarter, including Bell's game winner to give EWU the road victory.

Fort Valley State outshot Edward Waters 38.3% to 31.7% including a 33% to 20% edge in three-point shooting. Edward Waters was able to have a much better effort on the boards, outrebounding Fort Valley State 46-43, including an 18-12 edge in offensive rebounding.

Bell led all scorers in the contest with a season high 19 points and nine boards. Isis Smith finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jourdan Avery finished with 10 points and six boards for the Lady Tigers.

Edward Waters will conclude the regular season on Monday at 5:30pm on the road against Albany State.
