Jacksonville, Florida-After going on a long, 14-game road trip, the Edward Waters women's volleyball squad finally returned home to the friendly confines of the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex for an SIAC East Division tilt against rival Savannah State. In front of crowd of staunch supporters, the Lady Tigers were able to win their third straight match with a 3-0 sweep of SSU, maintaining their share of first place in the East Divison with Albany State.
Edward Waters (14-4, 11-1 SIAC) made quick work of the first two sets against Savannah State (10-9, 7-8 SIAC), taking them 25-17 and 25-14 respectively. EWU found snatching the third set would require a bit more work as Savannah State capitalized on several Lady Tiger errors. After calling timeout following three successive service errors, the Purple & Orange finally found their groove and were able to polish off the visitors, winning the penultimate set 25-20 to secure victory.
The Lady Tigers hit .432 in the match on 45 kills, while Savannah State finished hitting .276 on 33 kills. EWU also took a 7-2 edge in service aces, 3-1 in blocks and 40-33 in assists, while the visitors took a 32-28 advantage in digs.
