Temple Terrace, Florida-The Edward Waters women's volleyball squad saw their three-game winning streak come to an end, courtesy of a straight sets sweep at the hands of Florida College in a non-conference matchup at Conn Gymnasium Tuesday evening.
The Lady Tigers (11-5, 8-1 SIAC)Â could not hold off a strong offensive effort from Florida College as the Falcons hit .269 on 45 kills, while holding EWU to .162 on 30 kills. The Falcons also had an edge in service aces (7-0), blocks (6-5), assists, (44-28), and digs (47-38).Â
Fatima Ramirez led Edward Waters with 13 kills, followed by
De'Nyla Harlan and
Naomy Vergez Varona with seven kills apiece.
Brandy Gilberry contributed four blocks,
Mataiya Barber had 22 assists, and Vergez Varona had 11 digs for EWU as well.
Edward Waters returns to SIAC competition with another road contest on Friday, October 13th at 7:00pm against Fort Valley State in Fort Valley, GA.
