Fort Valley, Georgia-Edward Waters did not let "Friday The 13th" spook them as the Lady Tigers got back in the win column thanks to a straight sets SIAC road sweep of Fort Valley State Friday evening at the HPE Arena.
The Lady Tigers (12-5, 9-1 SIAC) quickly dispatched of the Lady Wildcats (10-11, 5-9 SIAC), as the match took just 71 minutes in total to complete. Edward Waters met little resistance from Fort Valley State, hitting .269 on 33 kills including 11 service aces, while holding the Lady Wildcats to .023 hitting on 20 kills. EWU also took a 6-2 advantage in blocks, a 27-17 edge in assists, and a 48-45 edge in digs.
Fatima Ramirez led all players with a match high 18 kills, including five service aces, followed by
Naomy Vergez Varona with eight kills, and
De'Nyla Harlan with three. Ramirez and
Brandy Gilberry also led Edward Waters with four blocks apiece,
Mataiya Barber dished out a match high 24 assists, and
Jenieth Guzman chipped in 12 digs for the Lady Tigers.
Edward Waters will wrap up their road trip on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta with another SIAC East Division road match against Clark Atlanta, with first serve slated for 1:00pm.
