Jacksonville, Florida-The Edward Waters women's soccer squad unfortunately ran into a buzzsaw on Thursday afternoon in their 6-0 defeat at the hands of the visiting Lions of Saint Leo University at Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium. 

The Lady Tigers (1-3) faced a consistent barrage of shots throughout the contest from Saint Leo as the visitors recorded 28 total shots with 17 on goal, while Edward Waters could only muster seven total shots with just three on goal. 

Saint Leo scored the opening two goals of the contest at the 15th and 17th minutes respectively to give them a 2-0 lead that they took into the locker room. The second half was also owned by the Lions as they scored four more goals to completely put the contest out of reach.

The closest Edward Waters came to scoring was in the 48th minute, when the Lady Tigers were given an penalty kick opportunity. Unfortunately, Destianna Manning's shot was saved, keeping EWU off of the scoreboard.

Both Manning and Ellie Shurman led Edward Waters with two shots, while both of Shurman's opportunities were on goal. Sheila Pascual recorded 10 saves on the afternoon for EWU as well.

Edward Waters will hit the road north to Thomasville, Georgia to face former NAIA rivals in the Nighthawks of Thomas University on Sunday, September 11th at 2:00pm.
