PREVIEWING EDWARD WATERS:
AT LONG LAST: Edward Waters was finally able to put four solid quarters of football together in their 49-20 home win last Sunday against More-house. The Tigers showed a dominant display, especially through the air posting 309 passing yards and four receiving TD's.
David Johnson went 12-14 passing for 211 yards and 3 TDs.
Tyler King led the Tiger ground attack with a season best nine carries for 96 yards and 3 TDs, including a 53 yard rushing TD. Defensively, EWU held Morehouse to 222 yards of total offense and gained another turnover with a Widmyer Garcon 4th quarter INT.
MOVIN' ON UP: EWU has been on a steady climb up the SIAC rankings in some key statistics. The Tigers are fourth in the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 13.4 points per game and second in total offense, posting 359.2 ypg. EWU is also third in the league in passing efficiency, at 144.4, and continue to lead the conference in interceptions with six.
PREVIEWING ALBANY STATE:
THE CHAMPS ARE HERE: The 2021 SIAC champion Golden Rams have continued to show why they are the class of the conference on their quest to repeat. ASU's "Dirty Blue" defense is second in scoring defense in the SIAC, allowing just 7.2 ppg, third in total offense, averaging 358.6 ypg, and third in total defense, allowing 312.0 ypg. ASU also leads the conference in rushing averaging 197.4 ypg.
STARS CONTINUE TO SHINE: Preseason SIAC Offensive Player of the Year in junior QB Dionte Bonneau has had a solid season so far. He ranks fifth in the conference in passing, going 53-102 for 785 yards, five TDs, and three INTs. RB Marcuis Fulks is fourth in the league in rushing, with 355 yards on 69 attempts, averaging 71.0 yards per game and five rushing TDs. Defensively, LB Stephen Pierre is third in the conference in tackles, with 47 and 1.5 sacks. Sophomore DL Josh Hill is seventh in the confer-ence in tackles for loss with five, and junior LB Malik Barnes has four TFLs for the Golden Rams as well.
LEADER OF THE NEW SCHOOL: Head Coach Gabe Giardina is in his sixth season in charge at ASU and has led the Golden Rams to a resurgence in dominance. Coach "G" is 34-15 during his six seasons, including last season's SIAC Championship and trip to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
