During his time at MTSU, the program captured back-to-back conference tournament championships in 2015-16 and 2016-17 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons. In 2018, Day joined the men’s basketball coaching staff at Philander Smith University, where he served as an assistant coach through 2024. During his tenure, the Panthers advanced to three consecutive conference tournament championship games from 2021-24. The program captured the 2021-22 regular-season conference championship before winning the conference tournament championship during the 2023-24 season.
Day was elevated to interim head coach for the 2024-25 season. In his first opportunity leading a collegiate program, he guided Philander Smith to a 22-9 overall record and an appearance in the conference tournament championship game.
Day now brings his experience to Edward Waters University, where he serves as Associate Head Coach. His responsibilities include recruiting, player development, scouting, game preparation, and assisting with the overall direction and daily operations of the Tigers’ men’s basketball program.
A third-generation basketball coach, Day comes from a family with deep roots in coaching and education. He is a 2017 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and is married to Taylor Day. The couple has two daughters, Tatum and Teagan.
