Ka’Ven Berry is a committed track and field coach and former collegiate athlete with a proven record of success at the NJCAA, NCAA, and high school levels. Before coming to Edward Waters, he served as an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, where he has played a key role in developing championship-caliber athletes and teams.
Berry began his Collegiate career at Allen County Community College, where he earned NJCAA Indoor All-American honors in the 600m and 4x400m relay, won an NJCAA Outdoor National Championship in the 4x800m relay, and qualified for nationals five times. In 2018, he continued his career at Iowa State University, earning Big 12 Conference honors, securing a place on the program’s all-time 4x400m relay list, and competed at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, where his relay team finished as Second Team All-Americans. He later transferred to Western Kentucky University, earning Conference USA honors and posting one of the program’s top 800m times. He holds an Associate of Science degree in Physical Education and a bachelor's degree in social Behavior with an emphasis in Health.
Since 2020, Berry has been an integral part of the Mandarin High School coaching staff, specializing in sprints and middle-distance training. His leadership has helped produce state qualifiers, medalists, and district and regional championship teams. Notable achievements include contributing to the 2022 FHSAA 4A Girls’ State Runner-Up team. He also helped secure the 2023 Boys 4A District 2 Championship, the 2023 Boys 4A Region 1 Runner-Up title, and the 2025 Boys 4A Region 1 Championship. His coaching was highlighted by an 800m state champion in 2025 and the team’s runner-up finish at the FHSAA 4A State Championships.
In addition to his on-track accomplishments, Berry completed the USTFCCCA Endurance Event Specialist course in 2024, further strengthening his technical expertise. Recognized for his leadership, motivational skills, and ability to maximize athlete potential, Ka’Ven Berry continues to impact the sport by preparing the next generation of athletes for success at every level.
