Charmaine Wilson begins her twelfth season at the helm of the women's baksetball program at Edward Waters College. Since her appointment on July 15, 2011, Wilson has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role at EWC, bringing an exciting and fast-paced style of basketball to the program and turning the Lady Tigers into a conference and national championship contender.
Since coming to Edward Waters, Wilson has compiled and overall record of 158-105 and her teams have notched winning seasons in the last eight consecutive years. Wilson has also led the Lady Tigers to three 20+ win seasons (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18). During the 2017-18 season, Wilson led EWC to a program best, 25-6 overall record which featured a modern era program record 14-game winning streak, and also the program's first appearance in the GCAC Championship Game. The Lady Tigers repeated their GCAC Championship Game appearance in the 2018-19 season on their home floor at the Adams- Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex and again during the 2020-21 campaign.
Wilson led Edward Waters to the program's first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Regular Season Championship in 2020-21 and was also selected as the 2020-21 GCAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.
Wilson came to Edward Waters after spending seven seasons as an assistant coach at Bethune-Cookman University. While at B-CU, she was instrumental in the rebuilding of the Lady Wildcats basketball program which saw vast improvement during each of her seasons in Daytona Beach. In her role as the first assistant under current B-CU Head Coach Vanessa Blair, Wilson assisted in the recruiting of student-athletes.
Prior to her tenure at B-CU, Wilson spent five seasons at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. Wilson was an assistant coach with the Lady Yellow Jackets from 1999-2001, and in 2001 she was named the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program at Allen. During the 2001 season, Wilson made history, becoming the first Allen University basketball coach, men or women to win a tournament game in the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament.
A native of Hemingway, South Carolina, Wilson is a 1998 graduate of South Carolina State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. Also while at SCSU, Wilson was a three year letter winner for the Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team, earning such awards as Best Hustle & Most Improved. Wilson was also the Lady Bulldogs team captain for all three of her years. In 2016, Wilson earned her Masters Degree in Coaching & Athletic Administration from Concordia University.
