Vernon Edwards, Jr. returns to the sidlines in 2018 as he will begin his sixth season as the Defensive Line Coach at Edward Waters.

Edwards began his collegiate coaching career at EWC in 2013 as the Assistant Offensive Coordinator under former head coach Alvin Wyatt. He also spent one season as the Head Football Coach at his high school alma mater, Andrew Jackson High School in 2016.

Edwards has etched his name in history books as one of the most successful and decorated offensive lineman at Bethune-Cookman University where he suited up for the Wildcats from 2001-2005 also under Wyatt. While at BCU, he was a two-year starter at center. His final season at BCU in 2005 was incredible as he was a team captain, a Preseason Second Team All-MEAC selection, a Postseason First Team All-MEAC selection, a Third Team Gazette Division 1-AA All-American, and a member of the "BAAD Team" from the Black College Sports Page.

He also has experience in the professional ranks as he played for the River City (St. Louis) Rage of the United Indoor Football League where he played for two seasons from 2006-2008. In 2008, he was selected as First Team Offensive All-UIFL.

Edwards is a 2013 graduate of Edward Waters with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Organizational Management and he also earned a Masters Degree in 2017 from Concordia University in Educational Leadership.
