Dr. Michael Grant

Dr. Michael Grant returns to the EWC Football Program in 2018 where he will coach the running backs. Dr. Grant comes back to the program after spending one prior season in 2000 for the return of football to EWC. He brings 22 years of offensive football and college recruiting experience to the Edward Waters Football program.

In addition to his work in the football program, Dr. Grant also serves the college as the Executive Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) where he provides leadership to the academic advising and F.A.M.E. tutorial staff at the college.

He also was the assistant head and running backs coach/recruiting coordinator at Benedict College for two seasons.

Dr. Grant also served as the running backs coach/recruiting coordinator at Morehouse College for 3 seasons He recruited NFL 5th round draft pick Ramone Harewood From Barbados who went to place Offensive Line for the Baltimore Ravens and the first player from the country to play in a Super Bowl. He also coached and mentored former Morehouse RB John David Washington, a former NFL player  and son of actor award winning actor Denzel Washington.

He also was the tight ends coach at Clark Atlanta University for two seasons and spent six seasons at his alma mater, Fort Valley State University, as the running backs coach. He helped the Wildcats to two NCAA Division II semifinal playoff appearances and 2 SIAC championships. 

Away from the gridiron, Dr. Grant has served as an international admissions coordinator for Latin America, Caribbean and West Africa for the University of South Florida, Dean for Enrollment at Concordia College in Selma, Alabama, Director of Admissions at Saint Paul’s College, and Dean for Student Services at Allen University and Paine College.

He has worked as a sports and athletic department head for the Ministry of Education and US Embassy, Barbados.

Dr. Grant holds and earned Doctorate in Education Leadership and Management.
