Antoine Manning is in his first full season as Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Edward Waters College. Manning brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his numerous and successful stops as a coach, recruiter and college professor which all prove to be beneficial for instructing and developing student-athletes.
The Miami native comes to Edward Waters after serving most recently as the cornerbacks coach at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas where he was a part of a Southwest Junior College Football Conference championship team in 2017. During that season, his defense #1 in the SWJCFC in points per game and total interceptions, as well as earned a #6 ranking nationally, and earned a victory in the Heart of Texas Bowl, defeating perennial JUCO power Garden City Community College.
In addition to his time at TVCC, he was a Health/Wellness and Physical Education Professor at fellow HBCU, Texas College. Manning was also an assistant coach at Texas College in 2016, where he coached under current EWC Head Coach Greg Ruffin. Manning had several positions at TC, including Defensive Backs Coach, Passing Game Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Video Coordinator.
Manning also spent two seasons, from 2015-2016, as an assistant coach and professor at NCAA III Austin College. During his time at Austin, his defenses finished near the top in the country in Turnovers Gained, Defensive Touchdowns, Interceptions, and Forced Fumbles. He also coached eight All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers.
Prior to his days at Austin, Manning was the secondary coach at McKendree University from 2013-2015, where he coached Tirell Anderson to a new school record for career pass breakups.
He also had a stop at Rockford College, where he coached five All-Conference performers and helped coach a team that snapped a 23-game losing streak. Manning also co-facilitated fundraising efforts, managed recruiting budgets, and coordinated team travel.
Manning had great success coaching the secondary at Ohio Northern University from 2011-12. Manning knows what is like to taste success, as Ohio Northern climbed to as high as being ranked 12th nationally by D3Football.com during his time there. He also coached some very talented players who received honors such as First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Region.
Just before his time at Ohio Northern, Manning was an assistant at Lincoln University of Missouri. While coaching at Lincoln, Coach Manning wore many hats including: Interim Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator and the Defensive Backs Coach. In 2009, he coached the top defense in the conference in total defense, turnovers forced, and had the 21st ranked pass defense in the country.
He also served as the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at Midland Lutheran College in 2008. In 2008, defense intercepted eight more passes than the previous year and the defense finished ranked in the top 20 in seven different statistical categories. In the two years prior, Manning made two different coaching stops, one at Cornell College and the other at Eureka College where he primarily worked with the defensive backfield and special teams. In 2004 and 2005 Manning spent time as the Wide Receivers Coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College and South Dakota State University respectively.
During his playing days in college Manning was wide receiver at Lambuth University under current Regents Head Coach Vic Wallace. After his junior year, Manning transfered to Western Illinois University to finish out his playing career. Manning later received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 2004 and his master's degree in 2008 from South Dakota State University.
