Jacksonville, Fla. — In front of a spirited home crowd wearing all black at Nathaniel Glover Stadium, the Edward Waters University Tigers delivered a thrilling finish on Saturday night, earning a hard-fought 27-24 victory over the visiting Morehouse Maroon Tigers. With the win, Edward Waters improves to 4-1 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, continuing its historic start under head coach Brian Jenkins, Sr.

Noah Bodden connected with senior wide receiver
Izaiah Jean-Baptiste on a 26-yard touchdown strike to give the Tigers the lead for good. The EWU defense followed by forcing a turnover on downs, sealing the victory and igniting a roar from the home crowd.
Quarterback
Noah Bodden once again showcased his efficiency and leadership, completing 26 of 38 passes for 292 yards, with three total touchdowns and no interceptions.
Running back
Johntarrious Thomas provided balance in the backfield, rushing for 115 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown, pounding the Morehouse defense all night long.
Through the air, Jean-Baptiste delivered in the clutch, finishing with six catches for 84 yards, including the game-winning touchdown.
Kieren Jackson, already known for his kick return heroics this season, scored his first receiving touchdown of the year in the opening quarter to give EWU an early spark.
The Tigers' defense came up big in the crucial moments, led by linebacker
Trevon French, who filled the stat sheet with seven tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and a forced fumble.
Defensive back
David Law-Mortimer continued his strong season by notching his second interception of the year, while adding five tackles and two pass breakups.
The Maroon Tigers battled throughout, led by quarterback Miles Scott, who passed for 267 yards, and running back Nicholas Woodford, who contributed 95 rushing yards. Receiver Eric Stephens hauled in 77 receiving yards, while linebacker Sean Johnson paced all defenders with nine total tackles.
The Tigers will now enjoy a well-deserved bye week before hitting the road for another SIAC showdown. Edward Waters will travel to Frankfort, Ky., to face the Kentucky State Thorobreds on Saturday, October 11 at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00pm.
