Lady Tigers Basketball Season Comes in End with 71-62 Defeat in the SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament

Jacksonville, FL., -- The 2024-25 Edward Waters women's basketball season comes to an end as the Lady Tigers fell to the Spring Hill Badgers, 71-62 in the first round of the 2025 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday afternoon, March 1 inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex.

EWU finishes the season with a 16-9 overall record on the season with a 12-7 showing in SIAC action.

The Badgers came out sizzling hot as they scored 24 first quarter points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field. The Lady Tigers would trail by as much as 16 points in second quarter before battling back in the second half.

EWU struggled to find their shot as they left over 30 points on the floor on missed layups and foul shots. The Lady Tigers were able to claw back into the game with tough full court pressure force multiple Badger turnovers that led to fast break points for EWU.

Nekaya Williams led Edward Waters with 20 points, three steals and three rebounds. Williams shot 6-for-8 from the floor while knocking down eight of her nine foul shots. Taniah Bowers turned in a great all-around performance as the floor general finished with nine points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Simona Henshaw chipped in eight points and five rebounds while Imani Harris added seven points and three rebounds.

The Lady Tigers will turn their attention to the offseason as they look to replace eight seniors that all contributed heavily for Edward Waters.

Head Coach Eric Jackson Jr and staff will be headed into their second season in control of the Lady Tigers basketball program in 2025-26 and look to build upon the foundation they paved in year one.
