Miami, FL., -- The Edward Waters mens volleyball team dropped a pair a contests in their tri-match against Barry University and Webber International University on Saturday, February 8 inside the Health & Sports Center on the campus of Barry.
In the opening match of the afternoon, EWU lost by a score of 3-1. The Tigers fell in the first two sets 25-15 and 25-16 before taking the third set by a score of 25-22. EWU ultimately dropped the fourth set 25-11.
Junior Richard Hendricks led the Tigers with a near double-double racking up 14 kills, nine digs and an ace. Hendricks also recorded one assist. Rojey Hutchinson added eight kills, five digs and two blocks.
Senior Oneil Daley finished the match with a game-high 31 assists to go along with four digs and two kills. Bryce Simmons added six kills and two blocks while Devonte Harmon chipped in five kills and three digs.
Despite falling in the second match of the day 3-1, Tiger captains Oneil Daley and Richard Hendricks both compiled double-doubles in the contest as Daley finished with career best 44 assists and 10 digs while Hendricks notched 25 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Both captains added two aces each in the match.
EWU played much better in this contest as they lost their three sets by a combined seven points. Devonte Harmon added 12 kills, six digs, two aces and block. Rojey Hutchinson chipped in 11 kills and six digs.
The Tigers will have a few weeks off before returning to action on Sunday, March 2nd with a home match against Bethel University at 2:00 p.m. The game will be played in the Adams-Jenkins Complex.
