Jacksonville, Florida-There will be a new champion of the SIAC this season as defending champion and #2 seed Edward Waters fell to #3 seed Central State, 3-1 in the semifinal round of the 2024 Cricket SIAC Men's Volleyball Championship at the Adams-Jenkins Complex.
After taking the opening set of the match 25-19, the Tigers dropped the next three straight sets to Central State 25-21, 25-18, and 25-23 to bring an unfortunate end to their 2024 campaign.
For the match, Edward Waters hit .068 with 42 kills, while the victorious Marauders hit .149 for the match on 46. kills. The main difference in the contest that proved to be the undoing for the Purple & Orange was their inability to hit around the CSU blocking efforts. The Marauders had 16 key blocks in the match to just eight for Edward Waters.
Second Team All-SIAC selection
Tavion Ford led Edward Waters with 18 kills, including two service aces, while
Richard Hendricks recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs for EWU. SIAC Setter of the Year
Kenyon Haynes closed out the season with 33 assists.
Edward Waters concludes the 2024 season with a record of 12-16, while also going 8-2 in SIAC play.
