Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters closed out their two game SIAC homestand in style on Saturday afternoon picking up a key straight sets sweep of Kentucky State at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex.
Edward Waters (10-13, 7-1 SIAC) flexed their dominance early and often in the contest, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-17. The Tigers outhit Kentucky State (5-17, 4-4 SIAC) .263 to .049 in the match, had a 35-25 edge in kills, 5-0 in service aces, 8-5 in blocks, 34-24 in assists, and 34-24 also in digs.
Tavion Ford led the Purple & Orange with 16 kills and three service aces in the match.
Aleksander Sobik led the squad in blocks with three,
Kenyon Haynes, who prior to the start of the match was recognized for being the first Tiger to earn over 1000 assists in his career, dished out 28 assists, while also tying for the team lead along with fellow co-captain
Richard Hendricks seven digs.
Edward Waters will return to action on Friday evening on the road in a match against the Warriors of Webber International at 5:00pm in Polk County.
