GAME ONE: Edward Waters 12, LeMoyne-Owen 4:
The scoring began in the top of the third inning whenÂ
Mhasiah Patterson was able to steal home in the top of the first inning, and a throwing allowed
Katie Goodin to score giving EWU a 2-0 lead. The Lady Magicians had their response in the bottom half of the third courtesy of a two-RBI double tying the score at 2-2.
Goodin was able to give the Lady Tigers the lead again in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single. Then in the top of the sixth, EWU scored six runs on just two hits.
Caitlynne Lamug hit an RBI single, a bases loaded walk to
Kayla Saunders, a two-RBI double from Patterson, and RBI sacrifice fly from Goodin, and
Gracie Mejia's RBI single gave the Purple & Orange a commanding 9-2 advantage. Another response was forthcoming from LOC with another two-RBI double to make it a 9-4 ballgame.
Edward Waters put the contest out of reach in the top of the seventh on Lamug's RBI triple, a Saunders RBI single, and another Goodin RBI sac fly solidified victory for Edward Waters.
Lamug, Patterson, and
Brooke Rice each went 2-for-3 at the plate for EWU, while Goodin recorded a game high four RBIs.
Shai-Ann Currie earned win #5 on the seaason, going 5.0 innings, allowing four hits, four earned runs, three walks, and struck out four.
GAME TWO: Edward Waters 5, Kentucky State 4:
Edward Waters found themselves in unfamiliar territory to start the contest as Kentucky State surged ahead with four runs in the top half of the first inning. The climb back in the contest started in the bottom of the second when
Kayla Saunders was hit by a pitch, a bases loaded walk was issued to
Mhasiah Patterson, and another bases loaded walk was given to
Katie Goodin to cut the deficit to one at 4-3.
Kylah Gardner was issued a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the contest and in the bottom of the seventh, a wild pitch allowed Gardner to score to plate the winning run.
Jade Mention recorded the only hit in the contest for Edward Waters.
Jasmine Finuff earned the win for EWU, going all seven innings, and recording six strikeouts.
Edward Waters will wrap up Crossover play on Thursday with matchups against both Tuskegee and Lane College.
