Jacksonville, Florida-For the first time since rejoining the SIAC in 2021, the EWU women's basketball squad can add a regular season sweep of Benedict to their resume. The Purple & Orange led from the front for the majority of their Monday night East Division tilt, rolling to a 71-60 victory at the Adams-Jenkins Complex.

Edward Waters (8-14, 6-9 SIAC) trailed 5-2 early in the first quarter of the contest, then the offensive floodgates opened with the Lady Tigers going on a 9-0 run to capture the lead at 11-5 and never relinquished the lead from that point on. The Purple & Orange led 18-11 at the end of the first quarter and took a 37-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Benedict (3-19, 1-14 SIAC) cut the deficit to five at 37-33, but Edward Waters stretched their advantage back to double digits thanks to a 7-0 run to make it a 44-33 Lady Tiger lead. EWU led by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter of play and were able to cruise from there to earn their second straight win.

Edward Waters shot 39% from the floor on 24-of-61 shooting including a robust 40% from three point range at 10-of-25. EWU also forced 23 Benedict turnovers that resulted in 21 points in the contest. Point guard Sha'Kawanza Brown led the EWU efforts with 16 points, while shooting guard Tatum Hayes added 15 points and was 5-of-9 from the bonus sphere.

The Lady Tigers will head north to Georgia for two games, starting next Monday afternoon in Atlanta against Clark Atlanta. Tip-off from L. S. Epps Gymnasium is slated for 5:30pm.
