Columbia, South Carolina-Fresh off of their thrilling, come-from-behind home victory over Savannah State on Saturday evening, Edward Waters met up with Benedict on Monday evening in an SIAC East Division road matchup. The Lady Tigers went back to their calling card of turning defense into offense, rolling their way to a convincing 65-52 win and recording their second consecutive victory. The win for EWU is their first over Benedict on the women's basketball floor since re-joining the conference in 2021.
Edward Waters (6-14, 4-8 SIAC) played their most dominant and complete basketball game since the early portion of the season. In the contest, the Purple & Orange forced 26 Benedict (3-16, 1-11 SIAC) turnovers, which resulted in 25 points. EWU also went 39% from the floor on 26-66 shooting, while their counterparts shot 35% on 19-54 shooting.
Lee'Sha Henry led the Lady Tigers and was second amongst all scorers with 14 points and three boards, while
Sha'Kawanza Brown wrapped up her night with 12 points, three boards, and a game high four steals.
EWU continues their road trip on Wednesday as they will head across the street from Benedict to battle Allen at 5:30pm.
