Fort Valley, Georgia-The road stumbles continued for the Edward Waters women's basketball squad on Monday evening as second half collapse sent the Purple & Orange to a tough 65-62 SIAC road loss at Fort Valley State at the Health and Physical Education Complex.
Edward Waters (4-11, 2-7 SIAC) dictated the pace of play in the first half, nursing a lead of as many as six points and taking a 32-28 halftime advantage into the locker room. A big Fort Valley State (6-7, 5-4 SIAC)Â third quarter run which was highlighted by a late 8-0 Lady Wildcat run proved to be the undoing for the Lady Tigers. EWU attempted to claw their way back in the contest but the deficit proved to be too much as the Lady Tigers dropped their sixth consecutive contest.
Jourdan Avery led a Lady Tiger trio with double figure efforts, posting 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Kayla Horton finished with 11 points, and
Tatum Hayes contributed 10 points to the Edward Waters efforts.
Edward Waters will finally conclude their road trip on Wednesday evening with a non-conference matchup against Elizabeth City State with tip-off set for 5:30pm.
