Fort Valley, Georgia-Days after a tough two point road loss at Albany State, Edward Waters took their frustrations out from that contest on Fort Valley State on Monday evening at the HPE Arena. The Tigers played their most complete contest of the season, running away with a convincing 102-81 victory over the Wildcats in their SIAC East Division matchup. For EWU, it was the first time that they eclipsed the century mark in a contest since the 2021-22 season when the Tigers knocked off Miami-Middletown 113-71 in a road victory.
The Purple & Orange (7-8, 6-3 SIAC) dominated the contest from start to finish, opening the contest on a 14-0 run. That opening margin proved to be more than enough for the Tigers to run away with victory firmly in hand. Fort Valley State (3-13, 3-6 SIAC) could only come as close as 10 points of the lead in the contest, but Edward Waters displayed their dominance throughout the game, leading by as many as 27 in the late stages of the second half.Â
For the game, Edward Waters shot 43% from the floor on 32-73 shooting, including an amazing 51% from three-point range. FVSU on the other hand shot 40% from the floor and just 13% from the bonus sphere.
Amari Floyd led all scorers in the contest with a solid all-around game, finishing with 25 points and six rebounds.
Trevino Glover once again displayed his three-point prowess finishing with 17 points, including going 5-of-8 from three.
R. J. Noord and
Jeremiah Kwarteng each had 14 points, while
Kristian Ford got back in the swing of things with 10 points.Â
The Tigers finish the road trip 3-1 and will finally return to the friendly confines of the Adams-Jenkins Complex on Saturday afternoon with an East Division matchup against Clark Atlanta. Tip-off is slated for 5:00pm.
