Jacksonville, Florida-The 10 minute ride across town to Arlington was not a fun one for Edward Waters as the Lady Tigers came out on the short end of an 87-70 loss to Jacksonville in an exhibition contest Monday night at Historic Swisher Gymnasium.
The main issue for Edward Waters (3-4, 1-2 SIAC) that hindered their chances at an upset win over the NCAA Division I foe was a chilly night in shooting from the field. The Lady Tigers in the contest shot just 39% on 23-of-59 shooting, including going just 9-of-26 from the three point line. Jacksonville (3-4, 0-0 ASUN) shot 56% from the floor on 28-of-50 shooting and went 10-of-18 (55%) from the bonus sphere. The Dolphins also dominated inside in the paint, scoring 34 points against EWU. JU had a considerable edge in rebounding in the contest as well with 37 rebounds compared to 26 for Edward Waters.
The Lady Tigers had four players in double figures on the night with
Sha'Kawanza Brown,
Khadija Smith, and
Imani Harris each with 13 points, while
Kayla Horton had 10 points for Edward Waters.
EWU will take 10 days off until their next action, where they will hit the road to Daytona Beach for a matchup against Embry-Riddle on Friday, December 15th. Tip-off from the ICI Center is set for 11:00am.
