Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters saw their winning streak swell to three in a row thanks to a 37-30 Homecoming victory over Lane College Saturday afternoon at Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium. The win for EWU also snapped a five game losing streak to the Dragons, and pushed their Homecoming win streak to four in a row.
The Edward Waters (3-3, 3-2 SIAC) offense continues to put up video game type numbers, posting a season high 482 yards of total offense, their fifth contest of 400+ yards this season. Much of the Tigers' offensive output this season. has come through their aerial attack, as EWU put up 305 passing yards against a solid Lane (1-5, 1-4 SIAC) passing attack that previously ranked in the top five of the league.
The visitors from "The Volunteer State" hit the board first, scoring on their opening drive thanks to. an 11-yard rushing touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead. It took some time for the offensive engine for EWU to get started, but graduate QB
Jyron Russell was able to use his legs to score a four yard rushing TD to tie the contest at 7-7 with 1:47 remaining in the first quarter.

Vashaun Stockman stepped in front of a pass for a touchback, giving EWU the ball at their own 20 yard line. After a holding call on EWU on their first play from scrimmage that pushed the ball back to their own 10 yard line, Russell found freshman WR
Nathan Rembert, who weaved his way through the Dragons defense for a 90-yard receiving touchdown to push the Tiger lead to 17-7 with 6:44 remaining in the second. Lane was able to respond on their next possession, scoring a 1-yard rushing TD to come within three at 17-14 with 2:34 remaining. EWU's quick strike offense got back into gear, moving the ball down the field on a four play, 62 yard drive that was capped off with a 26-yard rushing TD from senior RB Deshaun Hugee giving EWU a two score advantage at 23-14 at the half.
The Dragons were able to score first at the 4:02 mark of the third quarter on a 12-yard rushing TD, cutting the EWU lead to two at 23-21.
The Tigers got back on the board as Russell found Rembert for the second time in the contest, this time from 41-yards out to push the advantage back to two scores at 30-21 with 11:46 left in the fourth. Lane took their next possession down and got points, thanks to a 19-yard field goal to come to within six at 30-24. The Russell-Rembert connection hooked up again for their third touchdown hookup of the day, this one from 26-yards out, giving EWU a 37-24 lead with 5:59 left. Lane would not go away as on their next drive, they scored a 15-yard TD on just four plays to make it a seven point ballgame at 37-30 with 4:49 left. Edward Waters went to their four minute offense, picking up key first downs, forcing Lane to burn their timeouts, and allowing the team and crowd to celebrate a seven point Homecoming victory.
Russell finished the contest going 20-30 passing for 305 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding eight rushes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Rembert finished his afternoon with five catches 160 yards and three touchdowns. Hugee recorded his first 100 yard rushing effort of the season with 16 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown. James Gary each recorded a sack in the contest, while Stockman recorded his second interception of the season.
Edward Waters will hit the road west to Alabama next Saturday for a key SIAC matchup against Tuskegee for their Homecoming at 1:00pm CST/2:00pm EST.
