Atlanta, Georgia-A double-double night from
Larry Kuimi and two other Tigers in double figures were not enough to put Edward Waters in the win column as the Tigers fell 66-63 to Clark Atlanta in an SIAC East Division contest at L. S. Epps Gymnasium.
Edward Waters (3-11, 2-8 SIAC) led by as many as eight points with 2:20 remaining in the first half. Clark Atlanta quickly closed the gap to come to within one point of the lead at the half with the visitors from Jacksonville taking a 29-28 advantage into the locker room.
Half #2 saw Clark Atlanta start out on an 8-0 run to take a 37-29 lead with 17:41 remaining. The Panthers saw their lead grow to as many as 11 in the second half as Edward Waters tried to mount a comeback. The Purple & Orange whittled the lead down to three with less than a minute remaining, but could come no closer as the Tigers dropped their seventh consecutive SIAC matchup.
EWU outshot Clark Atlanta 41.5% to 36.9%, but it was Clark Atlanta's second chance points edge that carried them through, outscoring the Tigers 22-4.
Larry Kuimi finished with a game high 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the way for Edward Waters, while
Andre Myers finished with 13 points and
Tavares Oliver finishing with 11 for the Tigers.
Edward Waters will have a quick turnaround as they will be back on the home floor on Monday, January 16th for a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day home matchup against the University of Fort Lauderdale at 7:30pm at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex.
