Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters had a tall task on their hands in facing the defending SIAC champions Albany State on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Rams showed why they are the class of the conference as the Purple & Orange fell 56-7 in an East Division matchup at Glover Community Field & Stadium.
Things unraveled quickly for Edward Waters (1-5, 1-4 SIAC) as Albany State (5-1, 3-0 SIAC) took the opening kickoff 90-yards for a touchdown to open the scoring at 7-0. The Tigers were able to get on the board at the 7:34 mark of the first quarter, when senior DB
Ahmaud Jordan stepped in front of a Diante Bonneau pass and scampered 70-yards for a pick six to knot the contest at 7-7. From there, it was all Albany State as they scored 48 unanswered points to completely salt the game away in their favor.
Edward Waters was their own worst enemy in terms of being unable to extend drives and costly turnovers affecting their effort. The Tigers were only able to muster as season low of 94 yards of total offense (44 passing, 50 rushing). Albany State on the other hand was dominant, posting 549 yards of total offense on 65 total plays (325 passing, 224 rushing).
