Box Score Winston-Salem, North Carolina-Edward Waters returned to their winning ways on Saturday morning, in a straight sets road sweep of Winston-Salem State at Whitaker Gymnasium. The win for Edward Waters also clinched a season sweep of their matchup with the Lady Rams to go along with their straight sets win back in Jacksonville on September 4th at the HBCU Volleyball Invitational.
Saturday's contest against WSSU was originally scheduled to be a tri-match as EWU was also supposed to play the Dragons of Virginia University of Lynchburg, but that contest was cancelled.
As for the match with the Lady Rams, Edward Waters (15-8, 8-2. SIAC) flexed their dominance throughout on both the offensive and defensive sides. Edward Waters outhit Winston-Salem State .225 to .022, racked up 28 kills, seven aces, and 34 total digs.
Fatima Ramirez led the EWU efforts with nine kills, including four service aces, and six digs.
Audrianna Jones was just behind with eight kills and one service ace, and
Mataiya Barber finished with four kills and 15 assists.
Andrea Diaz Merced led the Purple & Orange with 10 digs in the contest.
Edward Waters will continue their road trip on Sunday, with a 10am first serve in Atlanta against Clark-Atlanta in an SIAC matchup.
